Description
Cabernet sauvignon is one of the world’s most widely recongnized red wine grape varieties. It’s grown in almost every major wine producing country including our vineyard at North 42 Degrees. But this grape has an interesting yet fortuitous beginning. In 17th Century France an unintentional plant breeding occurred between a red Cabernet Franc grape plant and a white Sauvignon Blanc grape plant creating the most sought after grape varietal among North American wine drinkers: Cabernet Sauvignon.
And, the North 42 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a reliable crowd pleaser with a rich flavour profile and long smooth finish. This wine is a favourite for new and seasoned wine drinkers alike.
With love and care our vineyard team hand picked this classic ruby hued grape on a sunny but brisk November morning. It was then barrel aged for 22 months in new French oak. The result: a full bodied wine with elegant tannins and a lasting finish. This wine is loaded with flavours of blackberry and black currants intermingled with a touch of leather and black pepper finishing with rich warm vanilla. This Cabernet Sauvignon is drinking well now.
Our favourite pairing with this wine: a ribeye steak topped with blue cheese, a side of roasted root vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes and our bff’s. And it’s fantastic withwith semi-hard, aged cow’s milk cheeses. The aging process of the cheese brings out a slight crunch and rich, nutty flavours. This milder, nutty texture and smooth taste highlights the berry notes of this wine.
